Editor's review
A tool to extract information from RSS feeds and then format in the form of email to be automatically sent to a number of users.
Pros: Easy RSS2Email is literally a tool designed to take RSS feeds, extract information from them and to email this information to a list of users. The emailing lists are created easily with importing and exporting of email addresses as and when needed. Support for text databases in a number of different formats also means that entire lists can be populated in to the software quickly. A user has several options to create a certain newsletter: this begins with the basic which is just extracting information and reformatting as an email (both HTML formatted and plain text emails are allowed); more advanced functionality are the ability to replace words automatically, filtering by topic, splicing together content from different feeds and more. In addition to RSS it supports RDF and Atom feed formats.
Cons: The program is aimed at performing a simple task and therefore the interface is also simple. The simplicity of the interface is also a drawback. If all you want to do is specify a feed and have the information emailed to a number of users then this is easy to do. But to get some of the more advanced functionality to work it will take you a significant amount of time (and learning effort).
Overall: 4 stars. It does the task that it is designed to do fairly well, and it also has some customization features to make it possible for the user to modify the emails. However, the interface has a significant learning curve and those features are hard to master.
